While preparing to leave Albergue Roncesvalles, I was told by a fellow pilgrim, a young woman from Slovenia, that when she’d lost her job, she sold her car, put her possessions in storage, and began walking to Santiago de Compostela. When I met her, she’d already been walking alone across Europe for more than 75 days. For me the Camino had just begun, but for her, even with more than 30 days remaining, most of the pilgrimage was behind her! Unfortunately, I never saw her again as I delayed my departure to coincide with that of two couples I’d walked with the previous day. Three of those people are seen here. |
