12 Sep 2016, 17:04. A pilgrim on the Via Francigena finds rare shade as he passes between agriculture fields a few kilometers before reaching the day’s destination of Santhià. Note the pilgrim’s wearing of sandals, which I (the photographer) also did, but which I frequently changed off with Brooks running shoes. Unless one requires considerable ankle support, such as due to one being large or carring a heavy pack, sandals and running shoes are sufficient for walking on pilgrimage routes of this sort. |
