After walking this day as a pilgrim on the Via Francigena from Pietrasanta to Lucca, Italy, the photographer enjoyed a vegan dinner at Nanda’s and then purchased nondairy chocolate gelato (similar to ice cream) in a cone. Nondairy gelato sold in shops for on-the-go consumption was much more available through­out Italy (even in small towns) than was nondairy ice cream at that time in the United States.
