16 Oct 2016, 11:22. Westerly view from Siena’s Pinacoteca Nazionale (National Art Museum) (Italy). At left, beyond the satellite-dish-adorned roof­tops, is seen the bell tower and dome of the 13th century Duomo di Siena. At right is the Facciatone, which was to be the eastern façade of the cathedral. Structural weaknesses and arrival of the Black Death in 1348 put a stop to construction, leaving the façade today as an observation tower for tourists.
