Beyond the western suburbs of Pamplona, and 7 km (4.2 miles) from my pre­vi­ous night’s lodging, a Camino Francés sign displays the distance to the day’s destination of Puente la Reina. Although toilet facilities along the Camino are available in cafés typically sep­a­rated by at most a few kilometers, any place affording some privacy will suffice for the desperate pil­grim. The clump of trees behind where the Camino disappears over the knoll is such a location.
