13 Sep 2016, 07:39. A pilgrim’s view upon an early morning departure from the ostello at which he lodged the previous night in Santhià. Here on the Corso Nuova Italia (as the Via Francigena) my only com­pan­ions were empty recycling bins. A dearth of pilgrims on the Via Francigena was typical throughout northern Italy.
