6 Sep 2013, 15:16. The highest elevation of the day: Col de Lepoeder, 1,450 m (4,757 ft) above sea level and 1,280 m (4,200 ft) above the day’s starting location in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. I rested here to eat a vegan “power bar,” specifically a Clif Bar. (If you look closely, you’ll see a few crumbs from the bar on the right side of my mouth. No restrooms with mirrors along this part of the Camino.) From here the Camino steeply descends over the final 4.1 km (2.5 miles) to the day’s destination of Roncesvalles, Spain. |
