9 Sep 2013, 19:25. I arrived in late afternoon at the day’s destination of Puente la Reina (literally “The Queen’s Bridge”), a town named in honor of Muniadona de Castilla (995–1066) who as queen was responsible for the construction of this six-arch bridge for the safety of pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. Viewed westward from the town side of the bridge, a young boy plays on the bank of the rio Arga while a women (perhaps his mother) looks on. |
