22 Sep 2013, 14:17. After a 28.6 km (17.8 miles) hot, shadeless walk on the Camino Francés, I arrived at the day’s destination of Boadilla del Camino. With only 140 residents this town didn’t even have a grocery store. The only albergue listed in my Camino guide was very crowded and I was unconvinced that I could obtain a plant-based (vegan) meal there. But further down the main street I found the Albergue Titus with great facilities that included towels and soap in the shower/restroom. Although without cooking facilities, the albergue did sell fresh fruit which I ate with banana, apple, granola, pistachios, hazelnuts, and chocolate that I’d purchased the previous day. But before eating, I visited the 16th-century Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción (Church of Our Lady of the Assumption) at left. |
