Construction of the Torre da Trindade (Clock Tower) is thought to have begun in the year 1316 and continued until 1680 when its height topped out at 75 meters (246 feet). The clocks, installed in 1833, include two bells, the larger of which marks each hour while the smaller one chimes on the quarters. |
