8 Sep 2016, 06:55. Inside the shuttle transporting passengers from the airplane on which I’d arrived from New York City to the Aeroporto Internazionale di Roma–Fiumicino terminal. My 8-and-a-quarter-hour flight had departed New York City at 16:20 EDT (7 Sep). From this point an additional 12 hours (including layovers) on trains will be required to reach Aosta, the city from which I’d begin walking the Via Francigena to Roma the next day.
